How to Choose a Plastic Surgeon in the UAE or Saudi Arabia

Start with qualifications, not advertising

Cosmetic surgery is a medical decision. Check that the surgeon is appropriately trained in plastic surgery and licensed for the country where the procedure will take place. Patients in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and elsewhere in the Gulf should verify credentials through the relevant local health authority rather than relying on social media claims.

Ask where the operation will happen

The consultation room and the operating facility are not the same thing. Ask whether the hospital or surgical centre is licensed, who will provide anaesthesia, how emergencies are handled and where you would go if a problem developed after discharge.

Expect a balanced consultation

A responsible consultation covers your medical history, medicines, smoking, previous surgery, goals and the limits of the procedure. You should hear about scars, recovery, alternatives and material risks—not only potential benefits. Be cautious of guaranteed results, pressure to book immediately or a plan based only on photographs.

Plan privacy and follow-up

Patients who travel within the Arab region need a written aftercare plan. Clarify how long you should remain nearby, who reviews wounds, how urgent questions are handled and whether records are transferred securely. Consent is required before clinical photographs are used for education or marketing.
