Reduction and lift are related, not identical
Breast reduction removes skin and breast tissue to make the breast smaller and lighter, while also reshaping it. A breast lift mainly removes excess skin and repositions tissue and the nipple without necessarily reducing substantial volume.
How symptoms influence the plan
Patients considering reduction may report neck or back discomfort, shoulder-groove marks, skin irritation or difficulty exercising. A lift is more often discussed when position and skin laxity are the main concerns. Examination is needed because cup size alone cannot define the operation.
Scars, sensation and breastfeeding
Scar patterns depend on breast size, skin excess and the required repositioning. Changes in nipple sensation can be temporary or permanent. Breastfeeding ability may be reduced, particularly after larger reductions, so future pregnancy and feeding plans should be discussed.
Recovery and support
A support bra is often used. Work, lifting and exercise are resumed gradually. Patients travelling between the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries need time for wound review and should know how follow-up will continue after returning home.
