Choose care before choosing travel dates
Do not arrange a short holiday first and fit surgery into it later. The procedure, medical history and expected recovery determine how long you should remain near the operating facility and when travel may be appropriate.
Share complete medical information
Give the surgical team an accurate list of medicines, allergies, previous operations, pregnancy history, smoking or nicotine use and relevant conditions. Ask what tests are required and keep secure copies of the operative note, implant details if relevant, prescriptions and discharge instructions.
Understand clot and travel risk
Surgery and long periods of immobility can increase the risk of venous thromboembolism. Long flights or car journeys may add to that risk. The appropriate prevention plan and timing of travel must be decided by the treating team for the individual patient.
Know who provides aftercare
Before leaving the UAE, Saudi Arabia or another treatment location, know who will review the wound, remove drains or sutures if required and respond to fever, breathlessness, chest pain, increasing swelling or wound discharge. Urgent symptoms need prompt medical assessment, not messaging alone.
Continuity with Dr. Elsayed Abdelbaki
Dr. Elsayed Abdelbaki — الدكتور السيد عبدالباقي discusses the recovery window and follow-up schedule as part of planning. Patients moving between countries should not assume that routine follow-up can be replaced entirely by remote photographs.
